Daddy quits smoking

March 8th, 2009

after 15 or so long years of being a pack a day smoker, Daddy has quit. 1 year after Grandma Barb fell victim to small-cell lung cancer, Daddy owns up to his promise to Grandma Barb to quit smoking. Better late than never. Below are pictures of the last two simultaneous cigarettes daddy smoked.

Daddy, like most men, likes fire. Moreover, daddy likes explosions. Daddy poured some lighter fluid over his bag of tobacco and his box of empty cigarette tubes (I rolled my own for the past 3 years or so), lit his last two cigaretters, lit the pile of paraphernalia, and tossed his lighter on the pile. About 3 minutes later, the fire exploded in spectacular fashion, even surprising Daddy. It blew half the garage to hell.

No more Mr marlboro man. I’m done with you. May you rot in the back of my mind as a memory of what once was. Here’s to marathons, stairs without being out of breath, being less smelly, and an overall longer life expectancy. If grandma barb could do it for over 10 years, if Grandpa Clark (not to mention Grandpa Don and Grandma Carole) can do it, so help me god, So can Jonathan and Justins father. Best of luck to me.
